Loggerhead Turtles in Sao Vicente, Cape Verde, Africa We spent about five weeks in Sao Vicente, Cape Verde, Africa before we set sail across the Atlantic to Brazil. During this time local fishermen showed us a beach where we could actually swim with sea turtles. When the weather was good, we went there, brought our snorkeling equipment and there they were - those giant and peaceful creatures, flying gracefully through the water. Loggerhead turtles are the world's second largest sea turtles and national animal of Cape Verde.

On our passage from Rabat, Morocco to Arrecife, Lanzarote, Spain (Canary Islands) we had an amazing, intimate encounter with a WHALE! He came right up to our sailboat, Seefalke, and interacted with us for about 40 minutes. It was remarkable! We think he is a Sei Whale, but we are not sure.
